VPN Setup on Mobile Device (iOS, Android, Chromebook)
NOTE: VPN requires Duo authentication via the Duo Mobile app, a phone call, or a text message.Add your mobile device and phone number to Duo before connecting to VPN.
iOS Device (iPad/iPhone)
Install and configure SwatVPN on iOS
- Go to the App Store and install Cisco Secure Client AnyConnect VPN by Cisco.
- After install, tap the AnyConnecticon on the iPad/iPhone home screen.
- If prompted, click OK to enable AnyConnect.
- Select Connections from the AnyConnect home screen.
- Select Add VPN Connection.
- Tap Description, and enter SwatVPN Login.
- Tap Server Address, and enter swatvpn2.swarthmore.edu/ShibSSO.
- Tap Save.
- Enter phone's password to unlock settings when prompted AnyConnect would like to add configurations.
Connect to SwatVPN on iOS
- To connect via VPN, after you connect to Wi-Fi, go to the AnyConnect home screen.
- Select SwatVPN Login, tap ON next AnyConnect VPN.
- The Swarthmore login window will open - enter your Swarthmore username and password
- Authenticate with Duo.
- Tap Connect.
Android
Install and configure SwatVPN on Android
- Go to the Google Play Store and install Cisco Secure Client-AnyConnect by Cisco Systems, Inc.
- NOTE: for Kindle devices, install from the Amazon Kindle app store.
- After install, tap the AnyConnect Icon to start the AnyConnect app.

Accept the End User License Agreement (EULA).
- Click OK to continue.
- Tap Connections > Add New VPN Connection to configure.
- Choose Description, and enter SwatVPN.
- Choose Server Address, and enter swatvpn2.swarthmore.edu/ShibSSO.
- Tap Done.
Connect to SwatVPN on Android
- To connect via VPN, after you connect to Wi-Fi, go to the AnyConnect home screen.
- Make sure the Connections option shows SwatVPN.
- Tap Connections to select SwatVPN if it does not.
- Tap the slider bar to turn AnyConnect VPN ON.
- The Swarthmore login window will open - enter your Swarthmore username and password
- Authenticate with Duo.
- Tap Connect.
- If prompted, tap OK to allow Cisco access to finish establishing a connection.
Chromebook
Install and configure SwatVPN on Chromebook
- Go to the Play Store (click Play Store icon on Google Chromebook desktop).
- Search for Cisco AnyConnect. (Cisco Secure Client-AnyConnect by Cisco Systems, Inc.)
- Click Install.
- Click Open.
- Click Got It at the "This app is designed for mobile" prompt
- Accept the Enduser License Agreement (EULA)
- Allow Cisco Secure Client to send notification
- Click Connections.
- Click the + to add a new connection.
- For Description, enter SwatVPN.
- For Server Address, enter swatvpn2.swarthmore.edu/ShibSSO.
- Click Done.
- Close the Cisco app window.
Connect to SwatVPN on Chromebook
- To connect via VPN, right-click the "Wi-Fi" icon in the bottom-right taskbar.
- Select VPN from the menu.
- Select AnyConnect.
- Toggle on Any/Connnect VPN.
- Enter your Swarthmore username and password.
- Authenticate with Duo.
- Click Ok when prompted to allow Connection Request "Cisco Secure Client wants to set up a VPN connection.
