Wireless Troubleshooting FAQ for Swarthmore Connections Follow steps/tips below to troubleshoot connection issues: Eduroam Check that your login information was correct Username: Full Swarthmore email (auser1@swarthmore.edu) Password: Swarthmore password Check that you have the policy key installed.If connecting for the first time to Eduroam on the device, go to sfip.swarthmore.edu to download and install the policy key. If that doesn't work, try entering in the website address with the port number: https://sfip.swarthmore.edu:9443/Windows Users: You may need to Disable S-mode to install the policy key. Check for "Random MAC Address" setting. If it is enabled, disable it for the network Eduroam. Eduroam is a WPA2-Enterprise connection, which uses a unique username and password (highly secure). It can be also be called "Private Wifi Address" Check for "Private DNS" setting.If using a private DNS source, disable/remove it. Device must be able to use the Swarthmore DNS servers to load all web pages. Check DNS IP addresses. If they are different than the two listed below, remove them: 130.58.64.18 130.58.64.19 Sometimes Google DNS servers take over, and need to be removed (7.7.7.7 or 8.8.8.8) Check antivirus. Antivirus should be installed, running, and up-to-date. Click here for a list of approved antivirus programs Forget the eduroam network and try again Restart your device SwatDevice Check if device registered for SwatDeviceForm to register device accessed here: https://support.swarthmore.edu/support/catalog/items/55 Check if device needs to pair to other devices for setup—both devices need to be registered for SwatDeviceEx: Both laptop and remote camera must be registered individually on SwatDevice Check for "Random MAC Address" setting. If it is enabled, disable it for the network SwatDevice, then get the MAC address and compare with the MAC address that was registered. Send NOTE to Network Team to change the registered MAC address for the device. In the note include: The device model When it was registered Person's name and username MAC address that was registered previously If the Random MAC address was enabled, no need to check DNS settings Check for "Private DNS" setting.If using a private DNS source, disable/remove it.
