Faculty: Leaving Swarthmore
Preparing for Departure from Swarthmore
Academic Data Transition
Move any academic data that you would like your department to maintain access to into the appropriate Google Shared Drive. You may need to share files created by a student or someone else that is not in your department. To do that, you'll need to download the data, then upload it to your drive, so that you are the owner of the files. Those files could then be moved to a Google Shared Drive.
For more information, go to Saving Work That's Been Shared With You Via Google Drive
Personal Data Transition
- Save your Swarthmore Google account data (including email and files in your drive) with Google Takeout . For more details, see How to download your Google data.
- Save Moodle data by downloading the files from Moodle. Moodle files need to be downloaded individually.
- If you used the OneDrive associated with your Swarthmore Microsoft Office 365 account, learn how to save or transfer data by going to Copy, transfer or import files to your personal OneDrive
Email Transition
- Create a vacation auto-responder in Gmail, to inform people of your last day, retirement, and / or who to contact after you leave.
- Forward email to a new email account. Instructions can be found Vacation Responder and Email Forwarding. Emeriti can keep their Swarthmore Google accounts, so may not want to set up email forwarding.
- The article Preparing for Graduation provides lots of good information that also applies to faculty leaving Swarthmore.
Hardware Transition
Return all Swarthmore-owned assets that have been assigned to you -- This includes computers, tablets, monitors, adapters, and DUO authentication fobs. For more information, go to Offboarding: Faculty Computer Return-Reassignment
