First Time Enrollment in Duo

NOTE: Use a computer to set up your Duo account. You will need to install the Duo Mobile app on a mobile device, and then use the camera to scan the QR code that is displayed on your computer screen. If you cannot install the Duo Mobile app, select Phone Number as your Duo device.

On a computer, log into gmail.swarthmore.edu to start the Duo registration process.
Enter your Swarthmore username and password.
Click Get Started on the Duo screen.
Choose Duo Mobile to register a Mobile device (cell phone or tablet) as your primary method. Touch ID is not recommended as a primary method - it often causes errors and is better as a secondary method.
- If you cannot install the Duo Mobile app, select Phone Number to get a text message or phone call.
- For iPhone users, please ensure you have your Apple ID password available - you may need it to confirm the download of the Duo mobile app.
Install Duo Mobile on your cell phone or tablet and follow the prompts to complete setup.
After completing the Duo Mobile app setup process, add a second authentication method (like Touch ID).
