Swarthmore College Web Login - Stale Request
Logging into a webpage with SSO
- Highlight the web address in the address bar at the top of the web browser
- Delete the web address so that the field is empty
- Re-enter the web page that you are trying to access, and try a second time
- If that doesn't work, try a new tab or different web browser
The "Stale Request" error is caused by browser cache. Clearing the browser cache of everything from the beginning of time will clear it, if the other options do not work.
Logging into an application with SSO
If you are trying to log into VPN or Adobe with SSO (or another Swarthmore application) follow the steps below to get past the "Stale Request" error message:
- Quit the application and start over from the beginning.
- On an Apple computer, use the Force Quit option. Go to the Apple icon > Force Quit, and then select the application in the drop down list.
- On a Windows computer, use the Task Manager. Right-click on the application in the list and choose "Quit".
- On a Mobile device, it may be easiest to restart the device.
