Trouble Printing from New Windows Laptop If you are unable to install one of the college printers on your brand-new Windows laptop, it may have a different kind of processor-type. Some modern Windows laptops use ARM64 SOCs as opposed to a standard x86, or x64 processor chipset. Check to see if your computer is an ARM64 device: Go to Settings>System>About Look for the line "System type." It will say "ARM-based processor" if it is indeed an ARM64 device. Why is this important? This type of computer, is not compatible with the printer drivers that are currently installed on swat-print and restech, our print servers. What can I do to print right now? This is a known problem, but it will take time to solve. The immediate solution is to use a public workstation, where they can send jobs that have been shared via Google Drive or USB storage device. Public workstations with associated printers can be found in most dorms, and in the libraries.
